Brief overview of the iPhone XS and its features

The iPhone XS is a smartphone released by Apple in September 2018 as part of the iPhone X series. It features a 5.8-inch Super Retina OLED display, a Face ID facial recognition system for unlocking the phone and making payments, and a glass and stainless steel design. It runs on Apple's iOS operating system and is powered by the A12 Bionic chip, which provides fast performance and improved energy efficiency.

In terms of camera capabilities, the iPhone XS has a dual-lens rear camera system with a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens. It also has a 7-megapixel TrueDepth front-facing camera for selfies and FaceTime calls. Other features of the iPhone XS include wireless charging, Animoji and Memoji, and Face ID, which allows you to unlock your phone with just a glance. The iPhone XS also has a water-resistant design and offers improved battery life compared to previous models.

Even the most avid Apple fans may not be aware of all the hidden capabilities of the iPhone XS. While the phone is packed with impressive features and capabilities that are well-known and widely advertised, it also has a number of lesser-known features that are just waiting to be discovered.

In this article, we will explore five hidden features of the iPhone XS that you might not know about.

Customize Control Center

The Control Center is a convenient way to access a variety of settings and features on your iPhone XS. It can be accessed by swiping up from the bottom of the screen, and it includes buttons for common functions like turning on or off Wi-Fi, adjusting the volume, and controlling music playback. However, the Control Center can be customized to include only the functions that you use most frequently. This can help you streamline your experience and save time by only displaying the controls that you need.

To customize the Control Center on your iPhone XS, go to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls. From there, you can add or remove items from the Control Center by tapping the green "+" or red "-" buttons next to each item. You can also reorder the items in the Control Center by tapping and holding on the three horizontal lines to the right of an item, then dragging it to the desired position.

Some of the items that you can add or remove from the Control Center include the following:

  • Alarm: Displays the current time and allows you to set an alarm.
  • Calculator: Launches the calculator app.
  • Camera: Launches the camera app.
  • Flashlight: Turns on the flashlight.
  • Notes: Launches the Notes app.
  • Screen Recording: Allows you to record video of your screen.
  • Stopwatch: Launches the stopwatch app.
  • Text Size: Allows you to adjust the text size on your device.

By customizing the Control Center to include only the functions that you use most frequently, you can streamline your experience and make it easier to access the features that matter most to you.

Quick Actions

Quick actions are a handy feature of the iPhone XS that allow you to access specific functions within an app without actually opening the app. This can save you time and help you get things done more efficiently. To access quick actions, simply press and hold on an app's icon. This will bring up a menu of available actions for that app.

For example, pressing and holding on the Camera app icon will bring up options to take a selfie, record video, or take a portrait mode photo. Pressing and holding on the Maps app icon will give you options to search for a location, get directions, or mark your location. And pressing and holding on the Phone app icon will bring up options to make a call, send a message, or create a new contact.

Quick actions are available for a variety of apps, and the specific actions available will vary depending on the app. Some other apps that offer quick actions include the Music app, the App Store app, and the Notes app. By taking advantage of quick actions, you can save time and get things done more efficiently on your iPhone XS.

Scan QR Codes

QR codes (short for "Quick Response" codes) are a type of barcode that can be scanned with a smartphone to access information or perform an action. They are often used in marketing, advertising, and other contexts to provide a quick and easy way for users to access information or perform a specific task.

To scan a QR code with your iPhone XS, simply open the Camera app and point it at the code. The iPhone will automatically recognize the code and provide you with the option to open the associated website or app. For example, if the QR code is for a specific website, you will see the option to open the website in your browser. If the QR code is for a specific app, you will see the option to open the app.

Type to Siri

Siri is a voice-activated digital assistant that comes pre-installed on your iPhone XS. It can be used to complete tasks, answer questions, and provide information on a wide range of topics. While Siri is typically activated by speaking to it, you can also type out your requests to Siri if you prefer. This can be useful if you are in a noisy environment, if you are in a location where it is not appropriate to speak aloud, or if you simply prefer to type out your requests.

To enable the "Type to Siri" feature on your iPhone XS, go to Settings > Siri & Search > Type to Siri. With this feature enabled, you will be able to type out your requests to Siri rather than speaking them aloud. To access Siri, simply tap the Siri icon or hold down the Home button on your iPhone. From there, you can type out your request and Siri will respond with the information or action you requested.

Save Webpages as PDFs

The "Create PDF" feature on your iPhone XS allows you to save a webpage as a PDF file, which can be convenient for a variety of reasons. For example, you might want to save a webpage as a PDF if you want to view it offline, if you want to share it with others, or if you simply want to have a permanent copy of the webpage for reference.

To save a webpage as a PDF on your iPhone XS, follow these steps:

  • Open the webpage that you want to save as a PDF in your web browser.
  • Tap the Share button, which is typically located at the bottom of the screen.
  • Scroll through the options in the Share menu and tap "Create PDF."
  • The PDF version of the webpage will be created and saved to your device.

You can then access the saved PDF by going to the Files app on your iPhone XS. From there, you can view the PDF, share it with others, or move it to a different location on your device. By using the "Create PDF" feature, you can easily save webpages as PDFs on your iPhone XS and access them anytime, anywhere.

These are just a few of the hidden features that the iPhone XS has to offer. Whether you're looking to customize your phone's settings, save time with quick actions, or take advantage of its advanced camera capabilities, the iPhone XS has something to offer for everyone.
